Beginning Watercolor Class Offered

The Cooperstown Art Association is pleased to announce a four-week Beginning Watercolor Class taught by David Kiehm of Oneonta, NY. David Kiehm, an alumnus of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, with a BFA in Illustration, works as a freelance illustrator, specializing in wildlife. His work has appeared in many publications and secured numerous awards and honors. David states, "A lifetime of living closely with nature has inspired me to capture some of the ever changing images that flourish around us everyday. I try to express my love of these wild things through my paintings, and if I can capture the essence of my subjects, hopefully the viewer can also experience the passion I feel and even a coax a memory of a similar experience they may have had."

The Beginning Watercolor Class will be held on consecutive Sundays beginning February 6 through February 27 from 1-4pm each week. The class will meet in the classroom space at the CAA Galleries in Cooperstown and this enjoyable beginner’s watercolor class requires no previous experience. Along with demonstrations, hands-on attention is given to each student’s work. The basics of color, light, value and design will be covered. There will also be a detailed discussion of materials including paper, brushes and paints. This is a fun introductory class, a great chance to explore the exciting world of watercolor. The class fee is $55 for members and $60 for non-members. High school age students as well as adults are encouraged to attend. Class space is limited to 12 students. A suggested materials list will be provided upon pre-registration. For more information and pre-registration call (607) 547-9777.
