Local & Regional Artists on Display

The Cooperstown Art Association invites everyone to come and see our upcoming shows, the 20th Annual Regional Juried Art Show, ESSENTIAL ART, “Memories of Cooperstown” by Ty Steinbacher and the Cooperstown Central High School Show. All three shows will open with a public reception on Friday, May 6th from 5p.m.-7p.m.

Open only to artists residing in New York State, ESSENTIAL ART is a juried art show celebrating the talents of local and regional artists. The jurors this year are Carol Ann Henderson of New Berlin, NY and Jane Sapinsky of Cherry Valley, NY. These two talented women will make sure that this show will be truly outstanding! The show will be on display through June 3rd in Gallery A.

Ty Steinbacher resides in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York. From his studio surroundings he paints in a variety of mediums but prefers to work in oils. He captures beauty with a brush, during his plein air excursions with nature and landscape, the capturing of the essence of the model in the studio or in the melding of the two. “My exhibit, ‘Memories of Cooperstown’ will be a combination of culture, history and figurative paintings. A few of the paintings will feature my favorite places in and around Cooperstown, NY,” states Steinbacher. “Memories of Cooperstown” will be on display in Gallery B through June 3rd.

It would not be May without the outpouring of talent provided by the students of the Cooperstown Central School. Their enthusiasm and creativity is not to be missed in their annual show that will fill the upstairs ballroom gallery with color through June 1st.

As always, admission to the CAA is free! The Cooperstown Art Association Galleries are located in the Village Library Building, 22 Main Street, diagonally across from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Gallery Hours: Open Daily 11-4 and Sunday 1-4. Closed Tuesdays through Memorial Day. For more information please call (607) 547-9777. Visit us on the web at
