Two New Classes at the Cooperstown Art Association

Drawing the Head and Stained Glass at the CAA!

The Cooperstown Art Association is pleased to announce a new Eight-Week Drawing Class and a One-Day Workshop in Stained Glass both starting in June! Classes are held in our upstairs classroom space at 22 Main St. Cooperstown. We are offering Drawing the Head with Doug Jamieson and Introduction to Stained Glass with Dr. L. David Pye. Drawing the Head with Doug Jamieson

Thursdays
8-weeks, June 2 – July 21
10am – 12noon
$100 for Members / $105 for Non-members

This is an 8-week class focusing on the head and feature construction. A model will be used after the first class. All skill levels are welcome. Doug Jamieson lives in Treadwell, NY and is a professional artist and author of Draw from Your Head: A Step-by-step System for Drawing the Human figure. There will be demonstration and hand-outs from the book. Doug Jamieson’s etchings, watercolors, oils and drawings are exhibited in galleries, art societies, colleges and museums, and are in collections throughout the U.S. He has recently self-published The Nighttime Adventures of the Man in the Conical Hat, a book of his etchings and poetry.

Introduction to Stained Glass with Dr. L. David Pye

One Day Workshop

Following introductory overviews on historical and modern aspects of the field of stained glass, students will engage in hands-on construction of a framed work of art involving multiple pieces of colored glass. This process will include the fundamentals of pattern design and utilization; cutting, sizing and fitting various pieces of glass; and the use of modern joining methods. This workshop is intended for aspiring stained glass artists with little or no experience with this medium. Dr. L. David Pye is Dean and Professor of Glass Science, Emeritus, the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and the CEO of Empire State Glassworks, LLC and operates a modern glass studio in Spruce Lake, NY. All materials used in this workshop are included in the price.
