Cooperstown Farmers Market

May 10, 2011

The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market has received a donation of 1,500 packets of Zucchini seeds in honor of the Market’s 20th Anniversary. New York State’s premiere seed company, Harris Seeds of Rochester, NY made the donation valued at over $3000 in the hope of seeding the field of competition for the market’s annual Zucchini Festival in August. The packets of Zucchini Elite seeds have been customized, and read ‘Harris Seeds is happy to help things grow at the Cooperstown Farmer’s Market!’

Seeds are being handed out at the Market and distributed to local garden projects as well as area schools, senior centers, and food banks. If you have a community garden – or a patch of fertile earth, please contact Cooperstown Farmers’ Market Manager Lyn Weir, admin for seeds. And mark your calendars: the Largest Zucchini Contest will be held during the Zucchini Festival at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, on August 6th. Weigh-in at 1:00 p.m.! Winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market.
