Heritage Plant Sale at The Farmers’ Museum on Memorial Day Weekend

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (5/23/2011) — Memorial Day Weekend marks the start of thegardening season for many Central New York residents, and for over 15 years, they’ve turned to The Farmers’ Museum’s Annual Heritage Plant Sale to get a running start. On Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., visitors can purchase heritage plants and seeds, including plants and cuttings from The Farmers’ Museum’s Botanical Specimen Garden. Medicinal herbs, ornamental and dye plants, heirloom-variety vegetable seeds, and other garden accessories will also be on sale. Stop at Todd’s General Store for flower pots and even more seeds!

Patrick MacGregor, Supervisor of Thrall’s Pharmacy at The Farmers’ Museum has quite the green thumb and cultivated each plant from root division and cuttings. “Heritage plants are more characteristic, and the plants for this sale are propagated from hardy well established rootstock. They would be an excellent addition to any gardener’s landscape,” he says.

The Heritage Plant Sale is part of the Museum’s "Family Fun" Weekend which also includes the unveiling of a new carousel animal, free rides on the carousel, free admission for kids 12 and under, and much more.
