Three New Exhibits Opening Friday, June 10th at the CAA

June 1, 2011

Silks, Sculpure, Fur, Fins, Feathers and more!

Join us at the Cooperstown Art Association Friday, June 10th from 5p.m.-7p.m. for the opening reception of three fantastic exhibits. Robbins & Ross: a two person show of sculpture by Lee Robbins and painted silks by Marianna Ross in Gallery A, Fur, Fins & Feathers: Fauna Works in Miniature in Gallery B and the 46th Annual Show of the Leatherstocking Brush & Palette Club in the ballroom Gallery C.

Robbins & Ross will transform Gallery A into a lush rainforest of intense color, evoking trees, flowers and forms. Lee Robbins of Hartwick, NY creates a fusion of natural science, biology and art in his steel and resin sculpture calling to mind the garden. His colorful resin cubes capture specimens in time radiating with light and color. Summer explodes with the luminous colors of the northeastern woods and gardens in a silk installation by Marianna Ross of Pennsylvania. Vividly painted transparent silk panels, backlit by skylights, activate the interior space with figurative and landscape forms. The combination of the two will create a rich environment of color, shape and form.

Fur, Fins & Feathers will feature miniature works by Robert W. Blanton, Sarah Brander, Dianne Bordley, Charlie Bremer, Jane Carr, Celia Clark, Larry Engel, William H. Greer, Roberta Griffith, Tracy Helgeson, Carol Ann Henderson, Lois M. Holz, Maxine Hunter, Doug Jamieson, Sybil S. The show will include wall hung work and sculptural pieces exploring all things fauna in miniature. Make sure you stop in and see this show before July 8.
