Jazz All Stars Coming July 3

June 9, 2011

Cooperstown Summer Music Festival Dear Friend,

Jazz All Stars Coming to Cooperstown…

Loren Schoenberg performs July 3 in Cooperstown
Loren Schoenberg

The National Jazz Museum in Harlem All Stars, under the direction of Loren Schoenberg, perform July 3 at 3 pm at The Farmers’ Museum. The Museum’s Louis C. Jones Center will be swinging with the sounds of the Count Basie, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington Bands.

"The NJMH All Stars will be presenting a tribute to the great big band leaders of the Swing Era, with an interesting twist, " explains Schoenberg. "It’s impossible to recreate the sound and feeling of the 1930’s and 40’s – it’s a loser’s game. So we invite our musicians, who range from young stars on the rise to seasoned veterans, to interpret the music in their own way. Jazz is always at its best when it contains the sound of surprise, and by creating new approaches to the music of the past, the NJMH All Stars generate a unique performance that is the audience’s to cherish." The All Stars feature: Loren Schoenberg, leader and tenor saxophone; Etienne Charles, trumpet; Tom Artin, trombone; Jon Gordon, alto saxophone; James Chirillo, guitar; Frank Tate, bass; and Kevin Dorn, drums.
