CAST CHANGE FOR GLIMMERGLASS FESTIVAL ‘MEDEA’

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – The role of Glauce in The Glimmerglass Festival’s production of Medea will now be sung by Glimmerglass Young Artist Jessica Stavros. Wendy Bryn Harmer, who has performed the role since Medea opened July 8, has withdrawn from the production due to illness.

Stavros may be seen as Mrs. Sylvia Potter-Porter in The Glimmerglass Festival’s production of Annie Get Your Gun and was a National Semi-Finalist in the 2011 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She is also a winner of the Wagner division of the 2011 Liederkranz Vocal Competition and is a Richard F. Gold Career Grant recipient. She has recently performed the roles of Mimì in La bohème and Elvira in Don Giovanni with the Music Academy of the West.

Medea features Alexandra Deshorties in the title role and David Pittsinger as King Creon. The production runs through August 16 in The Glimmerglass Festival’s Alice Busch Opera Theater in Cooperstown, New York. Visit www.glimmerglass.org for tickets and information.
