Cooperstown Farmers’ Market TUESDAY

August 1, 2011
CFM hen and puppy
This picture is a chuckle, for sure. Last week, a golden labrador retriever had a very large litter of puppies and some of the mother hens in the barnyard were called on to do double duty. Our apologies to anyone that didn’t get that extra dozen eggs they wanted last week. Otherwise, the market is filled to the rafters with the seasons bounty.

All your favorite vendors are on hand. Get some CORN ON THE COB from Tauzel Farm, an early variety called Vitality Bi-Color is great – what we called, ‘sugar and butter corn’, and Heller’s Farm has a white corn called Sugar Pearl this week, also great, I have had both and never tire of corn on the cob.

Along with B E A N S, T O M A T O E S, P E P P E R S, and G R E E N S from The Farm, Nectar Hills Farm, we also have R A S P B E R R I E S and
B L U E B E R R I E S from Middlefield Orchard.

Promiseland Farm, Acrospire Farm, Mountain View Dairy, Highland Farm as well as Hare and Feather have all the local meat and poulty you need as well as eggs and cheese.

One of the Farmers Museum interpreters will be on hand to demonstrate spinning wool with techniques used a hundred years ago. And our modern day spinners, Mimikis will be hand spinning using modern day methods. Come see just how much has changed in a hundred years!

Need a fresh idea for dinner? See the recipes are on our facebook page.

Market now offers EBT services for the SNAP Program [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.]
