Cooperstown Lakefront Concert Series Continues With Cooperstown Community Band

A variety of music every Tuesday evening in July and August

The 7th season for the Cooperstown Lakefront Concert Series continues at the scenic Lakefront Park. The family-oriented concerts, sponsored by the Village of Cooperstown Parks Board, are showcased on the historic bandstand each Tuesday night in July and August at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair, blanket and your dancing shoes in an activity the entire family will enjoy on a Cooperstown Summer evening. There is no charge.

The remaining line up includes:

August 9: Cooperstown Community Band returns – Celebrating 150 years

The band, under the direction of Julie Solomon, has been entertaining visitors and residents of Cooperstown and surrounding communities since the Civil War. Performances include Patriotic marches, Broadway show tunes, and other favorites. Entirely a volunteer organization, the group is proud to continue its tradition of performing at Lakefront Park. Also join them at the Otesaga Hotel every Wednesday during July & August at 8 pm.

August 16: Fritz Scherz from Fritz’s Polka Band – new this season

Fritz Scherz, bandleader of the Jagermeister-sponsored, Fritz’s Polka Band hails from Verona, NY and performs an eclectic mix of tunes on his accordion and sings, too. Fritz won the 1989 National Accordion Contest in Gibbon, MN and has performed alongside some famous musicians, such as: Glen Burtnik (formerly of STYX), Charles Giordano (current accordionist/pianist/keyboardist for Bruce Springsteen), Steve Augeri (former lead singer of Journey), and many more. August 23: Bourbon & Branch – new this season

A mix of rock, country, folk and blues, this well known group of local roots musicians dazzles and delights.

August 30: The Tweedlers

These fellas from the New York City area are a lot of fun! They’re, a unique acoustic trio with a distinctive sound and energy that enthralls their audiences. Rarely would you find a group of artists whose choice of music would appeal to so many different people. The young, the old, the tall and the small will be singing all day long, after their first Tweedler show. Whether Eric, Russ and Jon are harmonizing on an old waltz, a western swing, some classic country, rock, or songs of their own, you’ll wonder if your old favorites ever sounded so good!

The Village of Cooperstown purchased Lakefront Park in 1936 and expanded it by an additional purchase in 1961. The 2.6 acre park is a popular venue for relaxation, reading, boat-docking and concerts. The main entrance is on Lake Street and marked by natural stone posts, with stone steps descending to the park and lake.
