With so many exciting events happening at The Smithy, this summer is really flying by at lightning speed.  However, before I’m ready to start pulling out sweaters (perish the thought), there’s still a lot to look forward to in August. Economic times are hard– and arts organizations like ours certainly feel the burn– but we hope you’ll find time to support us as we bring low-cost, high-quality entertainment to the community.  From film to theatre to music, there’s no shortage of things to do as long as you know where to look:  The Smithy!  Check out our coupon offers below & save big!

Beauty Shop Stories
2010 Fringe Festival Awarding Winning Musical
Glimmer Globe Theatre, under the auspices of The Smithy, is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Cooperstown Theatre Festival. Once the home of Leatherstocking Theatre Company, this beautiful 150 seat theatre has seen many exciting plays and musicals on its stage. Now, Cooperstown Theatre Festival and The Smithy present Beauty Shop Stories, a musical that has garnered high praise since its debut in Manhattan at the Fringe Festival.  After touring the country and winning several prestigious MOTH storytelling awards, Beauty Shop has found a home at the Soho Playhouse in NYC.  We are very lucky to have such a beloved show journey up north just for us!
On Saturday, August 27th at 3 PM, star Faye Lane will teach a workshop on storytelling (which has also received critical acclaim) and then, at 7 PM, enjoy this hilarious and heart-warming show in one of the loveliest locations imaginable.
Beauty Shop Stories
Theatre is only possible if audiences fill the seats, so please mark your calendars and call in advance!  Please note, an additional performance on Friday, August 26th has been cancelled due to low-funding. But the show must go on, so August 27th will run as originally scheduled. Spread the word, bring your friends & family, & support live theatre!
$15 Adults, $12 Students/Seniors
Workshop $15 ($5 discount if you also buy a ticket to the show!)
