Beauty Shop Stories
2010 Fringe Festival Award-Winning Musical

Faye Lane The Smithy is delighted to partner with Cooperstown Theatre Festival to present Beauty Shop Stories, a musical that has garnered high praise since its debut in Manhattan at the Fringe Festival in 2010. It will play on Saturday, August 27th at 7 PM. Based on the true life story of writer/star Faye Lane, the show follows her from her mother’s beauty shop in Texas, to London, to NY. After touring the country and winning several prestigious MOTH storytelling awards, Beauty Shop has found a home at the Soho Playhouse in NYC. And now it travels to Cooperstown!

On Saturday, August 27th at 3 PM, star Faye Lane will teach a workshop on storytelling (which has also received critical acclaim) and then, at 7 PM, enjoy this hilarious and heart-warming show in one of the loveliest locations imaginable.

Glimmer Globe Theatre, under the auspices of The Smithy, is excited to be working with Cooperstown Theatre Festival. Once the home of Leatherstocking Theatre Company, this beautiful 150 seat theatre has seen many exciting plays and musicals on its stage. Next summer, expect great things as this relationship develops.

Guitarist, singer-songwriter and composer Sam Whedon writes eclectic songs that quietly reveal a well-traveled existence. His smokey voice and intricate guitar work draw from a lively mix of genre-crossing influences.

Sam is joined by a driving rhythm section. Stefan Orsini on the electric bass and Todd Hanhurst on the drums. The quartet, rounded out with tenor sax player Kristina Johnson, will certainly prove a fun and danceable mix of originals and covers.
