From our final opening this Thursday, to the concert right after, to storytelling on Saturday, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Thank you- as ever and always- for supporting The Smithy!
FINAL OPENING OF THE SEASON
Reception: Thursday, September 8th at 5 PM

The Smithy Pioneer Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition "More Than A Taste of Honey," a retrospective of the art works of famed local artist Hortense "Honey" Kassoy.

The show features Kassoy’s carved wood, marble and cast metal sculpture, watercolors, monoprints, silkscreens, and more, spanning her 76 year career as an artist. Kassoy is one of the oldest members of The Smithy Pioneer Gallery at age 94. She continues to paint and carve wood.

Also featured: Member Artist Gallery, Juried Show of Young Artists, a solo show featuring Elizabeth Nields entitled "Pottery For A Feast", and a solo show featuring watercolors by Alanna Rose

Indie-Folk & Celtic Music Concert
Thursday, September 8th at 7 PM (immediately following art opening!) on the 3rd Floor of the Gallery

Arts on Q and The Smithy are pleased to present Ryan McGiver and Cillian Vallely. New York State born singer and guitarist Ryan McGiver has toured extensively performing at venues such as Symphony Space in NYC and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. On this tour he is joined by Cillian Vallely, uilleann piper from the famed band Lunasa, from Ireland. The concert will feature imaginative musical interpretations of old Appalachian ballads from Ryan’s new album. $12 Adults, $10 Students/Seniors

Storytelling Series
Our final storytelling event of the season is this Saturday, September 10th, at 7 PM, and features 4 regional tellers as they weave tales of Mischief Makers! We have had wonderful evenings of old fashioned fun thus far and we expect more of the same- please join us! Free by donation.

Poetry Theatre
Please check in with us for our previously rescheduled rain date performance of Catskill Poetry Theatre’s "One Wild & Precious Life." If the weather is not too terrifying, we will conclude this three-part series of performances this Sunday at 2 PM. Free by donation.
